The elderly and wealthy Andrew Marsh dies from complications stemming from an erotic incident involving bondage and homemade pornography. In Japan, Madonna's other 1993 film Dangerous Game was released there as Body II even though the films have nothing in common nor are related to each other in narrative. In France and Japan, the film was released under the name Body. Widely considered to be a vanity project for Madonna, it marked her fourth film performance to be universally panned by critics, following Shanghai Surprise, Who's That Girl, and Bloodhounds of Broadway. There is a hole or two in the execution of the story that might have been tightened - thus my vote of "good" rather than "excellent" for the film as the "product" - but I have no complaints about the quality of the DVD.Body of Evidence is a 1993 erotic thriller film directed by Uli Edel, written by Brad Mirman, and starring Madonna and Willem Dafoe, with Joe Mantegna, Anne Archer, Julianne Moore, and Jürgen Prochnow in supporting roles. However, if you can handle the so-called "mature themes" of sex and nudity you can handle "Body of Evidence." There is at least one or two relatively explicit sex scenes, and a couple of other scenes that involve female nudity. Would a married attorney get involved with a female client? This story makes it believable. The difference is that in this movie the blonde (Madonna) gets involved with her attorney (Willem Defoe) instead of with a detective. I personally don't consider "Body of Evidence" to be a knock-off of "Basic Instinct" but the premise is similar: A man dies during "kinky" sex and a sexually provocative blonde is the prime suspect. At least one woman, presumably Madonna, appears nude in scenes where it is logical to assume that the nude woman is in fact Madonna. Although the DVD dates from 2002, the movie was made back in days when Madonna wanted to shock people - primarily by appearing nude in one context or another.
